Dear John,
How is everything going? l am writing this mail to introduce the Dragon Boat Festival.
The Dragon Boat Festival， also called the Duanwu Festival， is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar. This festival is to commemorate the death of QU Yuan， an upright and honest poet and statesman who is said to have committed suicide by drowning himself in a river. The most important activity of this festival is the Dragon Boat races. It symbolizes people‘s attempts to rescue Qu Yuan. In the current period， these races also demonstrate the virtues of cooperation and teamwork.Besides， the festival has also been marked by eating zong zi . Zong zi is made of glutinous rice（糯米） stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves. People who mourned the death of Qu threw Zong zi into the river to feed his ghost every year.With the changes of the times， the memorial turns to be a time for protection from evil and disease for the rest of year. People will hang healthy herbs on the front door to clear the bad luck of the house. Although the significance of the festival might be different with the past， it still gives the observer an opportunity to glimpse a part of the rich Chinese cultural heritage.

端午节，也叫端午节，根据中国历，在五月的第五天庆祝。这个节日是为了纪念屈原的去世，屈原是一位正直诚实的诗人和政治家，据说他自杀了。这个节日最重要的活动是龙舟比赛。它象征着人们拯救屈原的努力。在当前时期，这些比赛也展示了合作和团队合作的美德。此外，这个节日也以吃粽子为标志。粽子是由糯米制成的，里面塞满了不同的馅料，用竹子或芦苇叶包裹。每年哀悼屈的人都会把粽子扔到河里喂鬼。随着时代的变化，纪念馆变成了一年中抵御邪恶和疾病的时候。人们会在前门悬挂健康的草药，以消除房屋的厄运。虽然这个节日的意义可能与过去不同，但它仍然给观察者一个机会来一窥中国丰富的文化遗产。
